By accessing or using maango.io and the Maango API (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Maango is an AI policy registry that aggregates publicly available, machine-readable policy signals from websites (including robots.txt, llms.txt, ai.txt, HTTP headers, and similar files). We provide this data through our website and API to help AI agent developers and website owners understand the stated AI access policies of web domains.

3. Important Disclaimers

Not Legal Advice

Maango does not provide legal advice. The data we provide is an aggregation of publicly available policy signals. It does not constitute a legal opinion on whether any particular use of a website's content is permitted or prohibited. You should consult qualified legal counsel for any legal questions about web scraping, AI training, or content usage rights.

Data Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of our data, but we do not guarantee that our crawl data is complete, current, or error-free. Policy files change frequently, and there may be a delay between when a website updates its policies and when our registry reflects those changes. Signals across different standards may conflict with each other — our resolution logic provides a best-effort interpretation, not a definitive answer.

No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

4. Use of the API

Acceptable Use

You may use the Maango API to:

  • Check AI access policies for domains before your agent accesses them
  • Integrate policy checks into your application or workflow
  • Research and analyze AI policy trends using our data

Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • Use the API to facilitate illegal activity
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or bulk-download the underlying database
  • Resell raw API data as a competing product
  • Misrepresent Maango data as legal advice or legally binding determinations
  • Use the API in a way that disrupts or degrades the Service for other users
  • Circumvent rate limits or access controls

Rate Limits and Access

We may impose rate limits on API usage. Exceeding these limits may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your access. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the API at any time with reasonable notice.

5. Intellectual Property

Our Content

The Maango website, branding, reports, analysis, scoring algorithms, and API design are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute these without our permission.

Crawled Data

The policy signals we aggregate (robots.txt files, llms.txt files, etc.) are publicly available data published by third-party website owners. We do not claim ownership of this underlying data. Our value-add is the aggregation, parsing, conflict resolution, and structured delivery of this data.

Your Content

If you submit information to us (e.g., claimed domain profiles, feedback), you grant us a non-exclusive license to use that information to improve our Service.

6. Domain Owners

If you are a website owner and your domain appears in our registry:

  • We only index publicly available policy files — we do not crawl or store your website's content
  • You may claim your domain profile to verify the accuracy of your policy data
  • You may request removal of your domain from our registry by contacting us
  • We will process removal requests promptly

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maango and its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maango and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

9. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
